Lessons

I believe in a tailor-made approach and teach from a range of books and repertoire, or by ear, depending on the learning style and musical preferences of each student. I find that exams are a good motivator for some people, but if you would rather not take exams, that is easily accommodated too. If there are particular songs or pieces you would like to play, I am happy to teach them to you.

Approaches and methods

  • classical piano, including preparation for ABRSM classical piano exams and music theory

  • jazz piano, harmony and improvisation and playing by ear, including preparation for ABRSM jazz piano exams

  • pop piano, including the role of the piano/keyboard in a band

  • a mixture of the above, learning songs and classical pieces on request

Lesson duration and timing

I find that weekly lessons of 30 minutes are ideal for younger children. Lessons of 45 minutes or an hour are more suitable for teenagers and adults. Please click here to find out about availability and pricing.

"I am a singer-songwriter and came for lessons to improve my accompaniment skills. Not only have I done this, I have learnt so much else besides. Thank you so much!"
